Appearance:

Flonne was once an angel, but was changed into a fallen one. Despite the changes, she still has many angel qualities. Her long blond hair is probably the first thing one would notice about her, brushing against the back of her knees, with shorter locks brushing against her forehead and around her face. It's held part back by a headband tied in a knot at the top of her head, the ends sticking, almost impossibly, upwards resembling bunny ears.

Wide, with an almost child-like innocence, bright red eyes peer through the locks of pale gold. Her complexion is fair, and when she smiles, two pairs of pointed teeth are visible behind her lips. Poking out through her hair, is a pair of small demon wings and beneath her dress sways a long tail with a white bow tied just before the heart-shaped pointed end.

She stands about 5'2, much of her height being in her long, slender legs which are more pronounced by her style of dress. She wears a strapless red leotard with a short, sleeveless dress of white with a collared neck, tied with a red ribbon. She wears a separate pair of matching sleeves, tied to her mid-upper arms with more bows of red. To complete the outfit she wears a pair of heart shaped earrings and high heeled shoes, both coloured red.

She also has a staff she can call to hand magically (that morphs into a bow and arrow) as she is very skilled with magic, particularly healing.

Personality:

Flonne is an angel, almost literally, if not for the fact she was turned into a fallen angel. She believes wholly in the power of love, that love conquers all and that everyone has love in their hearts! (Even Laharl!) Her great passion for love has earned her the, rather accurate, nickname Ai-Mania or Love Freak from a certain Overlord, and she seems unpurturbed by the title.

Flonne is kind, gentle, considerate, outgoing, and sweet, acting almost sickeningly polite, even when angered. It takes a lot for her to drop her manners. (Although Etna has certainly had a bit of an influence on her.) She is also incredibly innocent, to the point that she can be very naive, in fact, she very often can ditz out, and act very dumb. Despite this she also is quite intelligent, on some subjects at anyrate, however it can seem to come and go. Furthermore she can be very stubborn, especially when it comes to the heart, as she takes it very seriously.

She is very loyal to those she cares about, and will step up to defend them, even at her risk to herself. She does understand that violence can be a necessary evil, but tries to avoid it when she can, prefering a peaceful solution. (Which can be difficult around the likes of Etna and Laharl!) She would much rather everyone get along and live in peace.

She tries to be optimistic, attempting to look on the bright side of every situation when she can. However, like anyone, she is not immune to the harshness of the world - having a great deal of empathy for all people, she will shed tears not only for her own problems, but other's too.

Like anyone, she is hardly perfect, but is such an endearing person, it's hard to not forgive and like her for despite her imperfections.

Flonne's History:

Flonne is the daughter oldest daughter of two angels, her father Terl and mother Erl. She also has a younger sister, Ozone.

Flonne was an angel trainee, and was being taught by the Seraph Lamington himself. Unknown to her the Seraph was hatching a plot with someone to have her meet the Prince of the Netherworld, Laharl. To set this into motion, Lamington sent the clueless angel trainee to the Netherworld, with a pendent to protect her, to assasinate the King.

When she arrived she found herself face to face with the Prince, and was dismayed to discover his father, the King had already passed away.

Unsure what to do, she fought Laharl, then decided to stay, and find out if demons could love. Laharl makes her his vassal. Flonne, not realizing quite what she's getting into, helps Laharl claim the throne, but along the way she slowly begins to see changes in Laharl.

Then humans arrived in the Netherworld, the defenders of earth, Captain Gordon and his companion, Jennifer and the robot Thursday. Being Laharl's job to defeat heros, they challenge them and Gordon is defeated and made a vassal.

They didn't realize they were being used, while Gordon was out of the way, a fleet of two million spaceships from earth move to attack the Netherworld. Laharl easily takes out most of the ships, leaving the huge lead ship. They get aboard and fight their way in, only to discover angels there. Angels were helping the humans invade the Netherworld!

The human's plan is thwarted, but now Flonne is upset. Why were angels helping the humans? Wanting answers she decided she had to go to Celestia and talk to the Seraph to find out. So they all go to Celestia, fighting their way in to meet the seraph. It turns out a arch angel was responsible for Celestia's involvement, having domination on his mind. He is punished by the seraph.

Then the Seraph looked to Flonne. To get into Celestia she had to hurt other angels, which is a sin amungst her kind. She had to be punished. She accepted it without question, and said her goodbyes to the confused group. The seraph turns her into a flower. In rage and grief, believing the Seraph killed her, Laharl attacks him, but stops, realizing it won't bring her back and she wouldn't want him to kill the seraph. Because he spared the Seraph, Flonne is then suddenly revived, but as a fallen angel. It was never his intention to kill her at all. That was her actual punishment. They're told they will be the knot that will bind the Netherworld and Celestia together.

Abilities:

Flonne's strenth is magic. She wields a staff-come-bow usually which enhances her magic (but she doesn't need it to cast) She doesn't have a great deal of phyhsical defense, but excels in resistance to magic attacks.

She is able to cast most magic of the fire, wind, ice and star varieties, but her specialization is restoritive magic. From heal to omega heal and espoir for "status ailments" She also has the support spells: braveheart, shield, magic boost and magic shield.

Then she has some abilities of her own:

The Power of Love: A healing spell of angelic nature. Like all her curing magic, but especially this spell, it's very pure, gentle and warm.

Holy Arrows: One of her best attack abilities, her staff becomes a bow and she shoots holy magic arrows.

(She did have a third attack, Holy Ray, but that was as an angel, in later games it was not used again, till finally in D2 she was given "Flonnezilla" ... yeaaah... so yeah...)

What is Makai Senki Disgaea?

It started as a SRPG by Nippon Ichi. It has since gained a sequel, two cd dramas, a large collection of novels, two mangas and an anime!

The first game, while not as polished as the second, is still a undeniable favorite. Published by Atlus, it goes under the title Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. It was VERY rare, and hard to get but no longer! Check out: www.nisamerica.com where they are selling reprints for $30!!! It's VERY worth it. Also soon it might be coming here to PSP! Cross your fingers! If you like FFTactics this kicks tactics ASS. XD Plus Laharl is awesome ... and Flonne is cute... and Etna .. well she's got the biggest fanbase of all XD (But a TOTALLYBIASED tip: The dub is not as good as the sub. ^.^ Change it to japanese from the start! Laharl's japanese VA is <3 )

What about this anime? The anime has grown on me, but totally muddled the story up until episode 9 where it SORT of gets back on track. Episode 11 though is LOVE. And the last episode, 12, is okay, but they chose to use the normal ending rather than the canon good ending. (Which all later material, including the second game, goes by.) Here's the anime promo!!! It was a promo to get people excited, but wasn't how the anime turned out at all. lol. The promo scenes are based closer to the feel of the game. Check it out!!!

Second game? A new set of chars, and cameos of the first. I don't know a lot cause I don't have it yet. It's said to be VERY good, despite the rather sad loss of the main first cast. (Much to Laharl's own dismay!)

Manga? Another retelling, that loses a LOT of the story, but is still quite cute. The second manga, coming here soon translated, fills in the story between the first and second game.

Novels? Extended universe! WHOOT! No translations yet, but they look to be interesting! Check the link to Digiflonne above that has scans and a brief summary of the books.

Dramas? Two cds .. one D1 other D2 .. plus the cast also appears on the Phantom Brave one (another game by Nippon Ichi after Disgaea that's good too) all japanese, but VERY VERY amusing.

Don't think you'll ever get to play, but want to know the story? Here's my lovely summary I wrote for my Laharl app on Paixao. Obviously this is spoilarific XD:

Laharl's mother was a human witch, who King Krichevskoy fell in love with. Early in the prince's life he contracted a disease that not even the King could cure. The only way to cure it was for someone who loved him to give up their life. His mother sacrificed herself for him, despite the King's attempts to stop her, and ever since the prince stopped believing in love.

Years later the prince took a nap, only to be rudely woken up by Etna, a vassal, two years later to discover he'd been poisoned, and that while he'd been sleeping his father had died (publicly it was said he died choking on a pretzel, but in fact died attempting to stop an invasion from an alternate netherworld). Not long after, an angel trainee called Flonne was caught sneaking into the palace on a mission to assassinate the King Krichevskoy. Her mission a failure (since he was already dead) she took on her own mission: to find out if demons could love.

After defeating any who would oppose him (including a eccentric demon, called the Dark Adonis - who is renamed to Mid-Boss by Laharl), Laharl became overlord. Peace, however, doesn't last long in the Netherworld, as Laharl quickly faced a new issue, humans. Being fed false information by an angel with ulterior motives by the name of Vulcanus, they sent the defenders of earth, Captain Gordon and his companions to defeat the overlord. Laharl defeats them (adding them to his growing group of servants) and they realize that the general of earth has teamed up with Vulcanus to destroy the Netherworld. They manage to defeat the human ship set to destroy their world, and Flonne brings them to Celestia to speak to the Seraph, now wanting answers.

They manage to fight their way into Celestia, and soon meet the Seraph. Vulcanus's plot to take over not just the Netherworld, but the whole universe is uncovered, and the Seraph punishes him. His attention then turns to Flonne, for her own sins could not be overlooked, and the Seraph transforms her into a flower. New found emotions rise in Laharl, and enraged, he attacks the Seraph, but stops, since killing him won't bring back Flonne and she wouldn't want that. He realizes perhaps now he understands why his mother sacrificed herself and he prepares to do the same to revive Flonne, but is stopped .. by Mid-boss. The Dark Adonis (who might somehow in fact be Laharl's father reborn or something) had been working with the Seraph to bring the two together, he explains. That Flonne was really sent to meet Laharl to begin to reforge the gap that had formed between angels and demons. Pointing him back to Flonne's flower, suddenly it transforms, and Flonne is back, but is no longer an angel. Her true punishment, was to be turned into a fallen angel. They're told that they are the knot that will bind Celestia and the Netherworld together. Neither understands, but one day they will.

More recently he was trapped in a bottle by Etna and ended up in the world of Phantom Brave ... then also had a show down with Zetta from Makai Kingdom .. lost .. "served" him for awhile, till he defeated Baal and destroyed him (again... for good .. he hopes), finally having vengeance for his father’s death.
